Job summary

Bowdoin College is seeking an Assistant Director of Environmental Health and Safety to support the Director in maintaining the EHS program. This role develops safety programs to meet federal, state, and local standards, and performs campus outreach, training, and risk-reduction initiatives.

It also oversees the campus learning management system and supervises a Safety Specialist. The position requires knowledge of OSHA, EPA, MEDEP and NFPA regulations, with preferred CSP/CIH/CHMM certifications.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA, EPA, MEDEP, NFPA and local regulations.
• Experience developing and editing safety compliance plans and documents.
• Ability to lead safety programs and expand campus safety initiatives.
• Strong communication skills for broad campus outreach and training.

Responsibilities

• Support the Director of EHS and maintain Bowdoin College’s EHS program.
• Develop and manage campus safety training across departments.
• Manage learning management system for EHS training.
• Supervise Safety Specialist and coordinate safety inspections.
