Job summary

Bowdoin College seeks an Assistant Director of Environmental Health and Safety to support the Director in maintaining a comprehensive EHS program. You will develop safety programs to meet federal, state, and local standards and lead campus outreach across departments.

The role includes managing the EHS training LMS, coordinating communications, and supervising a Safety Specialist to promote risk reduction and awareness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• RCRA Hazardous Waste and DOT HazMat training required.
• Preferred CSP/CIH/CHMM certifications.
• 4–7 years of related experience.
• Knowledge of OSHA/EPA/Maine DEP/NFPA and local regulations.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Support the Director of EHS and help develop and maintain the EHS program.
• Develop and maintain safety programs meeting federal, state, and local standards.
• Lead campus outreach, communications and training initiatives.
• Manage the campus learning management system for EHS training.
• Supervise one Safety Specialist and coordinate safety efforts across campus.
