Job summary

Bowie State University is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator to build and monitor the university's EHS program, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal laws across facilities, equipment, and operations.

The role requires a Bachelor's in a related field and at least five years of experience, with OSHA training, and the ability to lead training, audits, and reporting while coordinating with regulators and internal departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental health and safety, industrial hygiene, biology, chemistry, or closely related field.
• At least 5 years of professional work experience in environmental health, occupational health, safety, or related field.
• Experience with OSHA regulations and loss control strategies.
• General OSHA 10/30 or other safety certification required; HAZWOPER preferred; CSP/ASP/CHMM preferred.
• Ability to supervise personnel and/or projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement environmental health and safety programs.
• Inspect facilities and evaluate compliance with laws and regulations.
• Coordinate training and communication for campus community.
• Monitor emerging regulations and prepare reports.
• Coordinate emergency management and incident investigations.
• Liaise with federal, state, and local agencies.
