Job summary

Sika Gastonia, NC is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Manager to develop, organize, administer, and maintain the EHS program, minimizing accidents while ensuring regulatory compliance and operational efficiency. You will lead ergonomics integration and safety training, driving continuous improvement across the facility.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s in environmental/industrial/chemical engineering, 3+ years in manufacturing, and a professional safety certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental, industrial or chemical engineering, or related field.
• 3 years professional experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Certified Professional Health & Safety status (ASP, CSP, CIH, CHSP, CHMM, etc.) preferred.
• Knowledge of EPA, RCRA, DPCC, CRTK, Air Permits, Hazardous Waste Biennial Reporting, OSHA, DOT, EPA Form R, ISO and IATF Standards.
• Proven experience driving safety improvements on the shop floor and as part of the Leadership team.

Responsibilities

• Act as the authority in all areas of Environmental, Health & Safety, ergonomics, and industrial hygiene.
• Keep Management apprised of developments in federal and state EH&S laws and regulations.
• Develop, organize, administer, and track corporate Safety Training Programs. Implement and maintain monthly, quarterly and annual training programs.
• Integrate all Corporate and Regional Environmental, Health & Safety programs into daily operations.
• Work with corporate- and facility-level teams to assure that new or modified processes equipment is designed to ergonomic standards and meets regulatory requirements.
• Communicate safety-related issues through memos, reporting metrics, safety newsletters, on-site meetings, and through the disbursement of relevant publications.
• Submit monthly and yearly State and Federal EH&S reports
• Maintain ISO and 14001 Programs.
• Maintain the Injury and Illness Tracking Programs.
• Lead Near Miss and Accident Investigation root cause analysis; implement corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence.
• Establish targets and long-range accident prevention and cost-control objectives.
• Work with HR to reduce costs associated with lost time injuries and assist in return-to-work programs.
