Job summary

Lonza is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Manager at our Portsmouth site. You will lead the EHS team, champion local safety programs, and ensure compliance across operations. The role blends strategic leadership with hands-on support to protect people, processes, and the environment.

You will partner with cross-functional teams to reduce risk, deliver training, and drive continuous improvement, in a dogged focus on safety culture and regulatory readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in EHS, engineering, or a science-related field is required.
• 10+ years of experience in EHS, pharmaceutical manufacturing, or a related environment.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations and compliance (e.g., OSHA).
• Experience leading safety programs, audits, and risk assessments.
• Proven ability to lead teams and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of EHS professionals to improve site safety performance.
• Develop and maintain site safety programs ensuring regulatory compliance and risk reduction.
• Partner with site teams to support safe operations and drive safety culture.
• Lead safety inspections, audits, and regulatory readiness activities.
• Conduct risk assessments for new processes, equipment, and changes.
• Deliver safety training and promote awareness among employees and contractors.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities with site leadership.
