Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an experienced EHS leader to implement environment, health and safety policies across manufacturing facilities. You will mentor teams, drive compliance, and partner with regional leadership to strengthen the EHS culture.

This role requires a university degree, 6+ years in industrial EHS, and knowledge of ISO standards. You will manage audits, track KPIs, and ensure your location meets all applicable regulations while supporting continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety, Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science.
• Minimum of six (6) years of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
• Experience in developing, managing, and auditing EHS management systems, including ISO 45001, 14001, COR Auditor certified.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Workers Compensation and Return to Work programs.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities.
• Strong presentation skills.
• Strong knowledge in federal, provincial/state, or municipal health, safety, and environment legislation.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities.
• Proven interpersonal skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
• Comfortable with periodic travel that is required in this role.
• CSP designation or qualified to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor regional EHS Coaches to help implement the corporate EHS Management System(s).
• Establish corporate EHS policies, procedures, and best practices with the Director and regional managers.
• Oversee the organization’s Environment, Health and Safety Management System(s).
• Participate in annual document reviews to improve EHS policies and procedures.
• Track and maintain local EHS KPIs including publishing data for internal stakeholders.
• Provide updates, reports and suggestions for improvement on operational EHS issues.
• Advise management on regulatory requirements for control of hazards.
• Support education and training of employees on health, safety, and environment practices.
• Lead near-miss and incident investigations per the incident management process.
• Review hazard and incident reports to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Perform or aid in external or internal EHS audits and develop action plans.
