Job summary

Shirley Parsons is seeking an Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHSS) Manager for a leading advanced manufacturing facility in the Buffalo, NY area. You will lead site-wide EHSS strategy, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive a proactive safety culture across a complex manufacturing environment.

You will partner with plant leadership to implement EHSS initiatives, manage budgets, conduct incidents investigations, and supervise EHSS staff while collaborating with Operations,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety or related field with approximately 7–10 years of EHSS leadership experience in manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of environmental, health, safety, and security regulations and experience building and sustaining EHSS management systems.
• Proven ability to influence culture, engage employees, and drive cross-functional safety initiatives.
• Experience supporting ISO 14001/ISO 45001 in regulated manufacturing environments.
• Certifications such as CSP or CIH are preferred; includes leadership, project management, and people development.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic EHSS leadership for the site, ensuring regulatory compliance and acting as SME on EHSS matters.
• Partner with plant leadership to develop and execute EHSS initiatives, continuous improvement programs, risk reduction strategies, and annual objectives.
• Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, audits, inspections, emergency preparedness, and safety committees.
• Develop and manage EHSS budgets, metrics, training programs, and management systems while driving engagement across the organization.
• Supervise EHSS personnel and collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Quality, HR, and others to support safe processes and growth.

The Role

• Provide strategic EHSS leadership for the site, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable regulations while serving as the subject matter expert on EHSS matters.
• Partner with plant leadership to develop and execute EHSS initiatives, continuous improvement programs, risk reduction strategies, and annual site objectives.
• Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective action management, audits, inspections, emergency preparedness programs, and safety committees.
• Develop and manage EHSS budgets, reporting metrics, training programs, and management systems while driving engagement across all levels of the organization.
• Supervise EHSS personnel and collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Quality, HR, and other functional teams to support safe processes, equipment changes, and organizational growth.

The Candidate

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Science, or a related discipline, with approximately 7–10 years of EHSS experience in a manufacturing environment including leadership responsibility.
• Strong working knowledge of environmental, health, safety, and security regulations, with experience implementing and sustaining EHSS management systems and compliance programs.
• Proven ability to influence organizational culture, engage employees, and lead cross-functional initiatives focused on safety performance and continuous improvement.
• Experience supporting or implementing ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and regulated manufacturing environments
• Professional certifications such as CSP or CIH are preferred, along with demonstrated leadership, project management, and people development capabilities.
