Job summary

Southern Utah University seeks a dedicated safety professional to coordinate health and safety programs across campus and the Aviation program. You will lead incident investigations, conduct inspections, and ensure compliance with FAA Part 141 and EPA requirements while delivering training and safety communications.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s in EH&S or related field, strong SMS knowledge, and proven leadership with excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required in a safety-related field
• Knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS)
• Experience with hazard identification and incident investigations
• Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
• Demonstrated leadership and collaboration abilities

Responsibilities

• Manage safety programs for ERM and Aviation, including training and inspections
• Lead incident investigations and root-cause analysis with corrective actions
• Conduct campus and aviation safety inspections to ensure regulatory compliance
• Provide safety training for students, staff, and instructors; maintain safety boards and newsletters
• Coordinate hazardous waste disposal and EPA compliance activities
• Support Laboratory Safety and Aviation Safety Committees with data-driven insights
