Job summary

The Environmental Health and Safety Intern position in Freeport, Illinois supports the EHS team in developing and improving safety programs to meet OSHA standards. You will assist with incident investigations, training materials, and compliance documentation while fostering a proactive safety culture.

Working with site leadership, you will gain hands-on experience across safety communications, inspections, audits, and data analysis, contributing to a safer workplace and professional growth

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental science, or a closely related field.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Attention to detail and ability to analyze data and draw conclusions.
• Ability to participate in team-oriented projects to support corrective actions.
• Willingness to learn and engage in all aspects of EHS programs.

Responsibilities

• Support development and management of safety programs to ensure OSHA and environmental standards compliance.
• Assist in incident investigations by gathering information and aiding corrective actions.
• Create and deliver safety communications and training materials for the site.
• Help maintain the Behavioral-Based Safety program by organizing and reporting observations.
• Support regulatory permits, certificates, and required EHS documentation.
• Assist internal EHS audits to verify safe work practices and identify improvements.
• Contribute to EHS training initiatives and development of tools and materials.
