Job summary

Avantus Aerospace USA is seeking a safety program professional to implement and manage safety and workers compensation programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.

The role includes conducting hazard assessments, policy development, training, records management, PPE distribution, drills, committee leadership, and new-hire safety orientation.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes work environments and designs programs to control, eliminate and prevent disease and injury by conducting safety inspections and hazard assessments.
• Develops safety policies, training programs and materials, tracks training requirements and certifications.
• Prepares and maintains all safety records including training, accident and near-miss investigations, OSHA logs, permits, checklists, safety audits and walk-through reports and acts as liaison with government agencies.
• Responsible for coordinating the medical management of Workers Compensation cases, acquiring return-to-work documentation and coordinating modified duty strategies.
• Manages distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Conducts periodic fire and emergency evacuation drills.
• Chairs the Safety Committee and conducts monthly meetings.
• Conducts new-hire employee safety orientation.
• Additional tasks, duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
• Additional Duties, as assigned.
