Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an EHS Engineer to manage environmental, health, and safety programs across the organization. You will integrate EHS into engineering designs, drive risk management, and deliver safety and sustainability initiatives aligned with regulations.

The role requires partnering with engineering teams, developing policies, performing risk assessments, and training employees to improve safety and environmental performance across facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• 4–7 years of relatable experience in EHS program development, safety management, and implementation.
• Experience performing risk assessments and safety management.
• CSP, CIH, CHMM certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with federal, state and local EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, RCRA) and stay current on changes.
• Lead risk assessments (RA), HazOp, and integrate actions into design delivery.
• Support PSSR process and address all issues/gaps.
• Develop, implement and manage EHS policies, procedures, and programs.
• Identify, assess and mitigate hazards via safety assessments, inspections and audits.
• Monitor regulatory changes and submit required reports; conduct EHS training.
• Foster a strong local EHS culture and continuous improvement in safety and efficiency.
