Job summary

SpaceX is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer to lead the implementation of EHS programs at the Starship development and test site. The role requires hands-on expertise in environmental and occupational safety, ensuring safe operations in a fast-paced rocket development environment.

The ideal candidate will perform safety reviews, incident investigations, and OSHA/NIOSH/NFPA compliance, while developing programs covering hazardous materials, radiation, and emergency response.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• 3+ years of experience in the design, development and operational oversight of environmental, health and safety disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Work with test engineers and technician teams to review complex hazardous operations for safe execution.
• Lead or assist in incident investigations including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain compliance with OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH and other regulations.
• Collaborate with leadership to complete job hazard assessments and implement EHS policies.
• Develop environmental programs (SPCC, SWPPP, Title V) and safety programs (hazard communication, hazmat, cryogenics, confined space, fall protection, LOTO).
• Monitor exposure to physical and chemical hazards; inspect facilities and equipment.
