Job summary

ERM is seeking a Consultant, Environmental Health and Safety, EHS, in the San Francisco Bay Area. You will provide onsite EHS guidance to Fortune 500 clients, perform risk assessments, inspections, and support permitting, with extensive travel within Northern California.

Ideal candidates hold a relevant Bachelor's degree, 2+ years of experience, and strong knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations. Travel (~40 hours/week) and a valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Engineering, Engineering, or related science degree.
• 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal EHS regulations.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills—clear, concise, and client-focused.
• Willingness to travel to and be at client site(s) for up to 40 hours/week primarily within the Northern California San Fran Bay Area, California.
• Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.
• This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted advisor to Fortune 500 clients, providing onsite support and strategic guidance.
• Conduct safety risk assessments, inspections, and observations to ensure compliance and protect personnel.
• Help develop and implement innovative EHS programs in areas such as Hazard Communication, Injury Illness Prevention, Chemical Management, and Process Safety.
• Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions.
• Build strong client relationships and deliver high-quality solutions that exceed expectations.
• Help develop and implement innovative safety programs addressing NFPA 70E, risk assessments, auditing, and process safety.
• Perform building hazardous materials inspections and verify client compliance requirements.
• Support EHS permitting requirements.
• Conduct audits, onsite compliance inspections, risk assessments, and industrial hygiene evaluations.
• Collect and analyze field data; prepare technical reports and recommendations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement EHS programs and strategies.
• Ensure quality standards and regulatory compliance across all deliverables.
