Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. seeks an EHS Professional – Construction Support to provide environmental, health, and safety leadership across construction, renovation, and capital projects at SEL facilities.

You will partner with project managers, facilities teams, contractors, and site leadership to implement safe work practices and regulatory compliance. The role emphasizes planning, site inspections, review of JHAs and safety plans, incident investigations, and field coaching.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
• Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, CHST, OHST, or similar.
• Experience supporting construction, facility expansion, renovation, or capital projects in manufacturing, industrial, commercial, or institutional environments.
• Knowledge of OSHA construction standards (29 CFR 1926) and related environmental, health, and safety regulations.
• Strong hazard recognition and risk assessment skills, particularly in construction environments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications and safety data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Provide EHS leadership for construction, renovation, and capital projects across SEL facilities.
• Conduct routine project site inspections and audits to verify compliance with safety requirements and regulations.
• Review contractor safety programs, site safety plans, JHAs, permits, and work activities to identify and mitigate risks.
• Collaborate with project managers, facilities personnel, contractors, and stakeholders to address safety concerns and develop solutions.
• Monitor high-risk activities such as excavation, confined space entry, fall protection, lockout/tagout, energized work, crane operations, and hot work.
• Lead or assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
• Provide field coaching and mentoring to contractors and project teams to reinforce safe work practices.
