Job summary

Yara North America is seeking an experienced HES Manager to protect human and fixed assets through regulatory compliance and robust EHS programs. The role is based in Stockton, California with a hybrid schedule and reports to the VP of HESQ & Regulatory Affairs.

You will lead the development of the HES program, audit facilities and projects, train staff, and maintain regulatory currency. Travel up to 50% may be required within California and Canada.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Sciences, Change Management, or another relevant field.
• Professional certification in EHS (CSP/CHMM/OHST) preferred.
• 7–10 years of HES management experience, preferably in production/warehousing in California.

Responsibilities

• Develop and expand the HES program across Yara North America facilities to ensure policy and regulatory compliance.
• Audit owned and third-party facilities and capital projects to verify compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Train and mentor facility personnel, promoting cross-functional collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge on EHS regulations and act as a recognized resource for regulatory compliance across the business unit.
• Lead incident follow-up and document corrective actions for EHS issues.
• Conduct CalOSHA, CalEPA, CARB, USCG, and other agency trainings to keep personnel compliant.
• Perform annual safety program audits and liaise with security and Coast Guard as needed.
• Monitor and benchmark EHS performance against industry standards.
