Job summary

Amgen seeks an EHSS Manager in North Carolina to lead risk management and compliance across projects, developing and enforcing EHSS policies, procedures, and training aligned with federal and state regulations.

You will collaborate with Industrial Hygienist and global teams to drive continuous improvement of EHSS programs, maintain risk records, and support PHAs and process reviews while fostering a safety‑driven culture across operations.

Qualifications

• PhD or MSc with 2+ years in EHS experience, or 4+ years with a Bachelor’s and related work in EHS.
• Advanced degree holders preferred for leadership roles in EHSS programs.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA regulations and regulatory standards.
• Experience leading PHAs and risk management in biotech/pharma environments.
• Proficient in documentation, reporting, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive EHSS risk management across operations with compliance and continuous improvement.
• Implement and maintain site EHSS programs (hazard communication, risk management, high-risk processes).
• Conduct EHSS risk assessments and maintain Risk Registers.
• Provide EHSS input to projects, including PHAs and design reviews.
• Maintain risk reviews, safety data, and periodic updates.
• Collaborate with Industrial Hygienist and global EHSS teams on new products and processes.
• Develop digital tracking systems for risk assessments.
