Job summary

ASTEC in Yankton, SD is seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety Manager to develop, plan, and implement EH&S programs across the facility, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and fostering a strong safety culture.

You will lead risk assessments, investigations, training, inspections, and regulatory reporting; maintain OSHA records and chemical inventories; coordinate with regulators and insurers; and champion continuous safety improvements for all

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required; Master’s degree desirable.
• 3+ years experience in a managerial or technical position in a manufacturing environment with knowledge and proficiency in EH&S programs preferred.
• Ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of medical information.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; resourceful, well-organized, meticulous, and accurate.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain company policies adhering to environmental, health, and safety regulations.
• Develop, implement, and maintain facility-wide safety programs, policies, and procedures.
• Conduct risk assessments, JHAs, and machine‑specific safety evaluations.
• Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analysis, and corrective action planning.
• Oversee LOTO, machine guarding, confined space, hot work, and fall‑protection programs.
• Manage safety training for all employees, including new‑hire orientation and annual refreshers.
• Prepare and file reports and chemical inventories; submit required fees on time.
• Maintain safety and environmental training records; ensure OSHA compliance.
• Participate in inspections by regulators and insurers.
• Review reports and drive corrective actions for hazards.
