Job summary

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company seeks an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer to support construction projects across Texas and Oklahoma. You will perform site inspections, assess hazards, and help implement mitigation measures to protect workers and ensure compliance with OSHA standards.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in an EH&S related field and recognized safety certifications. Strong communication and teamwork are essential in a fast-paced field environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health and Safety Related field.
• Recognized Safety Professional Certification (examples BCSP: GSP or ASP).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills for field environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular job site inspections to identify and mitigate hazards and verify corrective actions.
• Support incident investigations with interviews, data collection, photos, and proper documentation.
• Evaluate permits and safety plans (e.g., Hot Work, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Excavation, Steel Erection).
• Apply Industrial Hygiene principles (Hearing conservation, Silica, Asbestos, Lead).
• Understand fire protection and storage/handling of flammable/combustible materials.
• Apply knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety culture improvement.
