Job summary

Chesapeake Regional Healthcare seeks a Registrar I to manage patient registration in the Patient Access Department. You will be the first point of contact for most patients, handling pre-registration, payer authorization, registration services, and financial counseling while guiding follow-up as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD, and insurance.
• Customer service experience in a retail setting or other healthcare/medical office environment.
• Customer service knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
• Accurate data entry skills and ability to use basic computer hardware.
• Experience working in a Windows environment or using multiple software/computer applications simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Register patients for various hospital services and meet scorecard standards for registration and wait times.
• Interview and collect patient information and demographics with accuracy.
• Verify, review, and coordinate benefits for patients and insurance verification.
• Process payments at point of service and post payments; manage cash receipting.
• Assist patients with financial clearance and set up payment plans; refer to financial counselors.
