Job summary

Job Description:

This recruitment will be used to create a pool of interested applicants to fill Special Project Assistant positions for the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at Oregon State University as the need arises.

The Undergraduate Student Support Services Worker performs a variety of work related to the support and enhancement of the quality of student life at the university.

Position Duties:
  • 100% Duties to be determined by hiring unit/supervisor and may include book reviews and publication research, experimentation in a laboratory setting, laboratory set-up and maintenance, data collection and analysis, and other related tasks.

  • Other duties are performed specific to the funding and research topic. Duties may include, but are not limited to: This position could assist PhD students and/or the professor in conducting research in EECS related fields. In addition, the student assistant could receive mentorship on design, implementation and test of multiple Electrical Engineering and Computer Science research areas.

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by Office of International Services(OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Working Conditions/Schedule:

Students are hired based on faculty recommendation only. If interested in the SPA Position with EECS, please contact faculty that you are interested in working with to verify if they are hiring.
The student in this position will be expected to work between 1 to 24 hours per week depending on the need and assignment. The student assistant performs hands-on experience in a research lab environment, to complement regular curriculum and enhance knowledge for future job placement.
This person will receive lab orientation and safety training if required.
