Job summary

Oregon State University in Corvallis is seeking an Undergraduate Student Technical Assistant for the Department of Integrative Biology. The role supports research and teaching labs, greenhouse, field plots, data collection, simple analyses, and animal care.

The position is a part-time role with a maximum of 24 hours per week. Primary duties include proctoring field testing, grading, lab setup, inventory, light office tasks, dissections, and access to controlled rooms as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study.
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard

Responsibilities

  • Proctoring for major field testing
  • Grading lab work, projects, homework, quizzes, exams
  • Set up and taken down teaching laboratory materials including chemical preparation, equipment checking, glassware cleaning and conduct inventory of lab equipment
  • Cleaning and preparation in teaching labs
  • Inventorying and preparing order requests for coordinator, cleaning labs, putting away equipment for summer sessions, maintaining facilities and other duties needed by coordinator
  • Light office work including photocopying, printing, laminating, etc.
  • Prepare dissection tools, perform dissections, follow disposal protocols for tissue waste
  • Accessing controlled rooms that house sensitive materials (cadavers, equipment)

Education

Must be academically enrolled in a higher education institution (high school, community college, or university)

Job Description:

This recruitment will be used to fill up to 20 part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) positions for the Department of Integrative Biology at Oregon State University (OSU). This recruitment is meant to serve as a job pool for faculty as needs arise.

The Undergraduate Student Technical Assistant performs routine to complex technical tasks in support of research or administrative work which includes laboratory, green house, field plot, data collection, simple analysis, or the care and maintenance of animals.

Position Duties:
