Job summary

Invenergy LLC, headquartered in Chicago, seeks an Electrical Engineering Manager, Operations Engineering to lead and grow the engineering team across wind, solar, and storage fleets. The role includes initial hands-on support and later supervisory duties.

The position emphasizes leadership, project prioritization, fleet-wide reliability, and collaboration with project and operations teams, with a hybrid schedule and competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years of engineering experience with demonstrated leadership/supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of three-phase power systems, high voltage electrical equipment & relay protection.
• Ability to support occasional after-hours operational issues.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong problem solving, critical thinking, and project/work management skills.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, onboard, train, and develop engineers to support the operating fleet, focusing on MV/HV substations, collection, and transmission systems.
• Supervise assigned engineers, including workload prioritization, performance feedback, coaching, and employee development.
• Prioritize and assign engineering support across wind, solar, and battery storage facilities.
• Provide direct technical support for complex site issues while building team capability.
• Manage team support for operating facilities, including electrical troubleshooting and review of data from incidents.
• Review and guide technical decisions related to troubleshooting, maintenance, event response, and fleet-wide actions.
• Provide oversight and escalation for electrical safety decisions.
• Support substation and BOP maintenance programs, including NERC and NETA testing/inspections.
• Identify and lead process improvements and high-impact projects across the fleet.
• Support budgeting, resource planning, and long-term project planning for the operating fleet.
• Support NERC compliance efforts, audits, reporting, documentation, and policies.
