Job summary

Sylvania is seeking an Interventionist to support elementary students at Oakview and Marquette. The role is grant-funded, with two scheduling options: 28 hours per week across Mon-Thu or Tue-Fri. The hourly rate is $32.77 for certified teachers.

Responsibilities include delivering literacy and math interventions, coordinating with MTSS and Literacy/Math coordinators, and documenting progress. Requires a teaching credential and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education plus valid Michigan Teaching Certificate is required.

  • Address behavioral needs and support students adapting to school; assist with personal care as needed.
  • Complete required state and federal documentation and activity logs.

Rate: Hourly Rate for certified teacher: $32.77

Option 1 -28 hours per week, 7 hours per day Monday-Thursday

Option 2 -28 hours per week, 7 hours per day Tuesday – Friday

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate as required by MDE.
  • Preferred Elementary Teacher Certification
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Participate in training before the start of the program, as well as on-going training.
  2. The building principal determines the intervention schedule and grade level support.
  3. Work closely with classroom teachers, MTSS Coordinator, Literacy Coordinator, and Mathematics Coordinator to support students.
  4. Provide specific literacy and mathematics interventions through push-in or pull-out interventions. Conduct small group lessons during designated intervention blocks.
  5. Assess, monitor, and communicate student progress.
  6. Effectively manage students within small group learning situations.
  7. Support early childhood transition (K-1) by teaching and reinforcing school and classroom expectations.
  8. Assist with behavioral needs, including implementing de-escalation strategies and facilitating breaks for students acclimating to school.
  9. Provide personal care services as needed, including supporting toileting skills, utilizing visuals and prompting for cleanup procedures, and assisting with locating clean clothing.
  10. Complete all required state and federal documentation, activity logs, including time and effort reports, annual certifications and/or personnel activity reports.
Qualifications:
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Good organizational skills and initiative, ability to work independently.
  • Ability to collaborate with staff, students and the public.
  • Ability to implement with student, the strategies learned in training sessions.
  • This position is supported either partially or fully through grant funding. Continued employment in this role is contingent upon the availability of such funding. If the grant funding is reduced, discontinued, or eliminated, the position may be reduced or eliminated accordingly.
