Job summary

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Implement Davenport Community School District reading and math curriculum
  • Provide interventions as needed
  • Attend and provide all building professional development
  • Participate fully as a productive team member
  • Implement building and district elementary and middle level initiatives
  • Demonstrate effective communication with students, parents, staff, and community members
  • Implement components of Trinity Lutheran Learning Plan
  • Participate positively in grade level PLC
  • Implement a variety of instructional strategies to meet the needs of a diverse learning community
  • Establish a positive learning environment
  • Collaboratively solve problems, working with the building leadership team to design and implement agreed upon interventions
  • Communicate growth and learning to parents in writing and verbal communication
  • Maintain records of interventions
  • Adapt to changes in schedule and work environment
  • Possess strong inter‑personal skills and a record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches their full potential
  • Maintain good attendance and punctuality to ensure duties and responsibilities are performed successfully
  • Be skilled in, or willing to be trained on, MTSS
  • Be skilled in, or willing to be trained on, PBIS
  • Support and implement Davenport's multi‑tiered system of supports (MTSS) for both behavior and academics; endorsement required: [148]
Physical Requirements of Position

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

  • Sit, stand, speak, hear, see, and walk to carry out routine duties.
    • Stand for long periods of time
    • Occasionally lift, move, or push items up to 50 lbs., such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture
    • Supervise students in all types of weather
    • Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff
    • Implement Crisis Prevention Intervention strategies, including appropriate physical restraint procedures and escorting
    • Assist with outside supervision year‑round

    • Knowledgeable about middle level practices
    • Experience with students who have learning challenges such as short‑term memory concerns, attention deficit, dyslexia, dysgraphia
    • Demonstrated knowledge of differentiation of instruction necessary to meet the needs of a diverse student community; evidence of successful implementation in prior experience
    • Reading or mathematics endorsements
