Job summary

St. Monica School on Mercer Island seeks a full-time PreK Instructional Aide to support the lead teacher in delivering a safe, nurturing, engaging, and faith-filled environment for our youngest learners.

The role involves assisting with daily routines, activities, and supervision, and collaborating with staff to uphold a Catholic education mission. The ideal candidate is warm, energetic, patient, dependable, and enjoys working with young children, contributing to a supportive classroom community

Qualifications

• Experience working with young children in preschool/PreK settings preferred.
• Demonstrates patience, warmth, enthusiasm, and genuine appreciation for children.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are important.

Responsibilities

• Support the lead teacher in implementing developmentally appropriate lessons, activities, and routines.
• Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce academic, social, emotional, and developmental skills.
• Assist students as they develop independence, self-regulation, responsibility, and positive relationships.
• Support classroom management and reinforce positive behavior expectations.
• Supervise students during classroom activities, recess, transitions, lunch, and other school activities.
• Assist with arrival, dismissal, bathroom routines, handwashing, meals, and daily care needs.
• Prepare instructional materials and help maintain an organized, clean, welcoming, and safe classroom environment.
• Collaborate with PreK teacher, specialists, administrators, and other staff.
• Support integration of Catholic faith and values into daily life of the classroom.
