Job summary

St. Monica School on Mercer Island, part of the Archdiocese of Seattle, is seeking a full-time PreK Instructional Aide for the 2026-2027 school year. The role supports a nurturing, faith-centered learning environment for our youngest students.

You will collaborate with a PreK teacher to deliver appropriate activities, reinforce development skills, and help manage a caring classroom that aligns with Catholic values. Strong communication and reliability are essential in this team-based setting.

Responsibilities

• Support the lead teacher with developmentally appropriate lessons and activities.
• Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce academic, social, emotional, and developmental skills.
• Assist students in developing independence, self-regulation, and positive relationships with peers.
• Support classroom management and reinforce positive behavior expectations.
• Supervise students during classroom activities, recess, transitions, lunch and other activities.
• Assist with arrival, dismissal, bathroom routines, handwashing, meals, and daily care needs.
• Prepare instructional materials and maintain an organized, clean, welcoming, and safe classroom environment.
• Collaborate with the PreK teacher, specialists, administrators, and other staff.
• Support the integration of Catholic faith and values daily.
• Complete other duties related to the PreK program and school operations as assigned.

St. Monica School is seeking a full-time PreK Instructional Aide to join our early learning team for the 2026-2027 school year. This position will work closely with the PreK classroom teacher to provide a safe, nurturing, engaging, and faith-filled environment for our youngest learners.

Position Responsibilities

Qualifications

• Have experience working with young children; experience in a preschool, PreK, childcare, or elementary school setting is preferred.
• Demonstrate patience, warmth, enthusiasm, and a genuine appreciation for young children.
• Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Be dependable, flexible, collaborative, and willing to be an active member of a school team.
• Support the mission and values of Catholic education and be willing to participate in the faith life of the school.
• Meet applicable Archdiocese of Seattle and Washington State requirements for employment in an early learning setting.

Pre-Employment & Training Requirements

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
