Job summary

St. Monica Catholic School in Mercer Island is seeking a full-time PreK Instructional Aide for the 2026-2027 school year.

You will work closely with the PreK classroom teacher to provide a safe, nurturing, engaging and faith-filled environment for our youngest learners. Responsibilities include supporting lessons, working with individuals and small groups, helping students develop independence, managing routines, supervising activities, and collaborating with staff to maintain a welcoming

Qualifications

• Have experience working with young children; experience in a preschool, PreK, childcare, or elementary school setting is preferred.
• Demonstrate patience, warmth, enthusiasm, and a genuine appreciation for young children.
• Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Be dependable, flexible, collaborative, and willing to be an active member of a school team.
• Support the mission and values of Catholic education and be willing to participate in the faith life of the school.

Responsibilities

• Support the lead teacher in implementing developmentally appropriate lessons, activities, and routines.
• Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce academic, social, emotional, and developmental skills.
• Assist students as they develop independence, self-regulation, responsibility, and positive relationships with peers.
• Support classroom management and reinforce positive behavior expectations.
• Supervise students during classroom activities, recess, transitions, lunch, and other school activities.
• Assist with arrival, dismissal, bathroom routines, handwashing, meals, and other daily care needs as appropriate.
• Prepare instructional materials and help maintain an organized, clean, welcoming, and safe classroom environment.
• Work collaboratively with the PreK teacher, specialists, administrators, and other school staff.
• Support the integration of Catholic faith and values into the daily life of the classroom.
• Complete other duties related to the PreK program and school operations as assigned.
