Job summary

Georgia Professional Standards Commission is seeking an Educator Ethics Investigator to conduct investigations of alleged educator misconduct and related background checks, preparing detailed files and reports.

Under supervision, you will coordinate with the Attorney General’s Office on appeal cases and testify in administrative proceedings as required. This state role may involve in-state travel and telework options.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Three years of full-time criminal, civil or administrative investigation casework experience in state, federal, city, or county government or closely related experience.
• Law enforcement investigative experience.
• Experience in investigations related to human resources, education, or a profession’s standards.
• Current or previous Georgia POSTC law enforcement certification (PBLE), comparable certification from another state, or completion of FLETC Criminal Investigator training.
• Knowledge of and skill in conducting interviews and interrogations, including: listening attentively to verbal and non-verbal cues and communicating effectively.
• Ability to plan, prioritize, and categorize tasks with respect to importance and time; use realistic estimates; and improve methods.

Responsibilities

• Investigates reports of educator misconduct and criminal history background as assigned.
• Prepares complete investigative files and submits comprehensive investigative reports.
• Coordinates with the Attorney General’s Office regarding cases on appeal.
• Testifies in administrative proceedings and other proceedings as required.
