Job summary

Wakulla County School District is seeking a dedicated paraeducator to assist teachers and school personnel in delivering a quality educational program. You will help prepare instructional materials, supervise students, and manage clerical tasks to support classroom activities.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent; or two years of postsecondary study (60 s.h.); or an Associate’s degree or higher.
• Proficiency in business skills including typing, office machines, general filing, organization; strong written and oral communication.
• Experience with children in an educational setting or related field.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in preparing materials and equipment for direct instructional activity.
• Schedule space for specialized instructional programs and coordinate equipment and furniture.
• Examine long and short term plans and anticipate need for supplies.
• Lead small group activities planned by the teacher.
• Assist in adjusting curriculum for diverse learners and backgrounds.
• Assist in implementing student behavior management techniques.
• Maintain security of records, materials and equipment.
• Enforce classroom rules and maintain records.
• Assist in assessing student progress and proctor tests.
• Collect and help organize assessment data for teacher review.
• Provide instructional assistance as planned by the teacher.
• Maintain records documenting student performance.
• Treat students and adults with respect and encouragement.
• Assist in evaluating program effectiveness and seek improvements.
• Use classroom management techniques for an effective environment.
• Maintain positive relationships with parents and school staff.
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing; collaborate with peers.
• Participate in training and inservice activities.
• Support peers in understanding responsibilities; show punctuality and reliability.
