Job summary

Wakulla County School District seeks a paraeducator to assist teachers and school personnel in delivering a quality educational program. You will perform instructional support tasks, organize materials, and help maintain records while interacting positively with students and staff.

You will relate to students and adults, follow instructions, and contribute to a collaborative classroom environment. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; two years of postsecondary study or an Associate degree; or a Praxis ParaPro pass.
• Proficiency in typing, office tasks, and clear written and oral communication.
• Experience with children in educational settings or related field.
• All current para-pros must meet highly qualified requirements by 6/3/11.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in preparing materials and equipment for instructional activity.
• Schedule space for specialized instructional programs and coordinate equipment and desks.
• Examine long and short term unit plans and anticipate supply needs.
• Lead small group activities following training and teacher guidance.
• Assist in implementing curriculum changes to meet diverse student needs.
• Maintain records and assist with assessment data and confidentiality.
