Job summary

Jobtailor in California seeks an experienced educator to oversee independent study programs. You will plan, implement, and instruct across academic, physical and extracurricular education with ILP-driven instruction in collaboration with learners and parents.

You will meet learners regularly, provide guidance, collect work samples, maintain portfolios, and ensure compliance with credential and certification requirements for independent study delivery.

Responsibilities

Job description

• Oversee the academic, physical, extracurricular education by planning, implementing and instructing
• Conduct oneself in a confident manner as the point of contact for assigned parents and learners of the independent study program
• Plan, develop, and organize an individual learning plan (ILP) for each learner in collaboration with the learner/parent
• Meet in person or virtually with the learner at least every 20 days to assess and evaluate learner achievement and growth
• Provide guidance and support to parents and learners
• Collect learner work samples monthly after reviewing the body of work
• Assign work through the ILP
• Maintain required learner portfolios as outlined by guidelines

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Valid California Multiple Subject Credential or Single Subject Credential
• ELL Authorization or CLAD certificate
• Negative TB test or risk assessment questionnaire
• DOJ fingerprint clearance
• Demonstrate proficiency in technology skills with the ability to learn and use online platforms, systems and software to support learning and record keeping
• Previous experience with homeschool or independent study programs preferred
