Job summary

Jobtailor in California is seeking a dedicated teacher to implement Project-Based Learning within a Common Core framework. You will align curriculum with standards, use student data to drive goals, and communicate progress to families.

The role includes after-school duties and advisory responsibilities to foster a positive school culture. You will plan rigorous lessons and deliver strong instruction while collaborating with peers to address student needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in subject area preferred.
• Possession of a valid internship, preliminary, or clear California Multiple Subject teaching credential.
• Demonstrated success working with students from educationally underserved areas.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Exceptional relationship-building skills with multiple stakeholders.
• Strong classroom management abilities.
• Willingness to work occasional weekends or evenings.
• Bilingual Spanish preferred.
• Commitment to LA Promise Fund mission and core values.
• Must clear LiveScan background check and TB risk assessment.
• Mandated Reporter training; COVID-19 vaccination recommended.

Responsibilities

• Engage scholars through an interdisciplinary Project-Based Learning framework aligned with Common Core concepts.
• Drive student outcomes by aligning planning to the Common Core Standards and assessment data.
• Use data-driven techniques to set ambitious goals for scholars.
• Maintain communication with families regarding student progress.
• Attend professional meetings and trainings to maintain competence.
• Plan rigorous curriculum and deliver strong instruction with solid content knowledge.
• Take on advisory roles and after-school duties as needed.
• Collaborate with teachers and administrators to address student issues.

Job description

• Drive student outcomes by aligning planning to the Common Core Standards and student assessment data.
• Using data-driven techniques to set ambitious goals for scholars.
• Maintain consistent communications with families regarding student progress.
• Hold weekly Office hours after school.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with students, families, and community members, and support parent engagement in student success.
• Maintain strong classroom and school culture by communicating and upholding school rules, values, and expectations.
• Set an urgent, respectful, and positive tone in the classroom.
• Display extraordinary time management to maximize student learning.
• Build collaborative, respectful advisory classroom community.
• Take on responsibilities outside of primary teaching responsibility such as advisory, lunch duty, enrichment classes, and after school activities.
• Work with other teachers and administrators to address and resolve student issues.
• Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.
• Plan a rigorous curriculum and deliver strong instruction by demonstrating solid knowledge of the content matter.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; advance degree in subject area preferred

• Demonstrated success working with students from educationally underserved areas
