Job summary

White County Schools in Sparta, TN seeks an instructional aide to assist a certified teacher across classrooms, helping with reading, writing and math instruction. You will prepare instructional materials, support testing, and help maintain an orderly classroom on a daily basis.

You will also supervise students during meals and breaks, report student needs, assist substitutes, and participate in staff development to improve performance.

Qualifications

• Education requirements as specified for aides in Title I programs where applicable.
• Ability to assist with reading, writing, and mathematics instruction.
• Ability to work well with children and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students under the direction of a certified teacher.
• Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist with administration and scoring of objective tests or assignments.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Supervise students during lunch, bus, and playground duties.
• Note special needs or problems of individual students when needed.
• Participate in staff development and faculty events; follow safety procedures.
