Qualifications

• 48 college credit hours completed or pass the Para Educator test.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision of the certified teacher, prepares for classroom activities.
• Works with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher.
• Assists individual children in need of special attention.
• Performs clerical duties.
• Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up by the teacher.
• Sets up audio-visual equipment.
• Assists teacher with non-instructional classroom duties, such as snack, toilet, and clothing routines.
• Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and make-up work.
• Assists in drill work.
• Assists with reading and storytelling.
• Assists small groups of students in the library.
• Participates in in-service training programs.
• Other tasks that may be assigned.
