Job summary

White County Schools in Tennessee seeks an instructional aide to assist with classroom activities and learning under a certified teacher. You will help prepare materials, support individual and small-group instruction, and maintain an orderly classroom.

You will also assist with testing, records, substitute orientations, and supervise students in various settings, including lunch and recess, while following district safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required for aides not providing instructional support in Title I programs.
• Associate's degree or two years of college required for aides providing instructional support in Title I programs.
• Familiarity with ESSA requirements is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students under the direction of a teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
• Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
• Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Supervise students during the school day in lunchroom, bus, and playground; notify teacher of student needs.
• Participate in staff development and faculty meetings; follow safety and emergency procedures.
• Physical demands include light lifting (<15 lbs), standing, walking, and exposure to outdoor elements; manage interruptions.
