Job summary

Washington County Schools (TN) is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support teachers, secretaries, and clerical staff as needed. The role focuses on classroom assistance, test administration, and student supervision.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, and a Para Professional Test if no college coursework. Experience is preferred but training is provided to perform assigned duties effectively.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Para Professional Test required if no college coursework (48 hours).
• At least 1 year of related experience is preferred, with training provided.

Responsibilities

• Administers, scores, and records achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual students.
• Operates and cares for classroom equipment used for instructional purposes.
• Distributes and collects workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction.
• Assists with student supervision during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
• Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and makeup work as assigned by the teacher.
• Works with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Follows safety rules and procedures for the job.
• Checks and records attendance.
• Arranges bulletin boards.
• Types and duplicates tests, worksheets, and supplementary materials.
• Assists in supervising lunchroom, playground, and bus loading.
• Assists in preparing class displays; and performs other duties as assigned.
