Job summary

Seton Catholic Schools is seeking an Educational Assistant to support the lead teacher in maintaining a safe classroom culture and reinforcing academic and social expectations. You will help drive student achievement through differentiated instruction aligned to the curriculum.

You will receive daily directives from the lead teacher and participate in ongoing professional development and coaching from principals as part of a collaborative team aimed at strengthening urban Catholic education.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bilingual or Multilingual ability, highly preferred.
• Experience working with students of diverse backgrounds, abilities and needs, highly preferred.
• Ability to build strong relationships with students and collaborate with all school staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead teacher during whole group instruction by moving throughout the classroom to check for understanding from the students and ensure students are maintaining on-task behavior.
• Conduct daily instruction with students one-on-one or in small groups; emphasis on literacy and math.
• Help prepare materials; track attendance, set up equipment, make copies, create displays, process student paperwork, document student progress and record grades.
• Participate in classroom planning through preparation for, and at times, creation of lessons and assessments.
• Provide the lead teacher with input when meeting with parents/guardians regarding student progress and behavior.
• Supervise students during specials, start/end of day activities, meals, recess, library, Mass or religious activities, computer lab, or field trips as assigned.
• Assume classroom leadership responsibilities when lead teacher is absent.
