Job summary

Sinclair Community College in Dayton, OH seeks a part-time Instructor for Educational Talent Search to provide tutoring, instruction, and college-prep support for Dayton Public Schools students under a U.S. Department of Education grant.

The role involves workshops, performance monitoring, and cultural enrichment activities during the academic year and summer. The position is grant-funded with a maximum of 28 hours per week and an hourly rate of $29.62.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field as required
• Licensure and/or certification in content area preferred
• Previous teaching and tutoring experience preferred
• Demonstrated understanding of the needs of students from disadvantaged backgrounds
• Intrinsic motivation, strong work ethic, initiative and organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Provide tutoring and instruction aligned with curricula and standards
• Develop syllabi and lesson plans and administer tests
• Differentiate instruction for varied learning styles
• Monitor student behavior and manage classroom effectively
• Provide tutoring for individuals and small groups
• Offer study skill guidance and feedback on performance
• Support college preparation initiatives and program objectives
• Chaperone cultural enrichment excursions and college tours
