Sinclair Community College’s Tutoring & Learning Center seeks a part-time Professional Tutor to provide tutoring and skill-building for students, including physics, across labs and small groups, while staying current through department training.

The role supports individual and group sessions and requires an associate degree or equivalent, with at least one year of tutoring or teaching experience. It pays $17.98/hour for up to 28 hours/week at the Dayton Main Campus.

Qualifikationen

• Minimum of an associate’s degree required or minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent accompanied with at least 60 semester hours in higher education required; bachelor’s or master’s degree in related field preferred
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in tutoring or teaching experience with a preference in working with a diverse student population required
• Ability to demonstrate a high level of skill with communication, patience, problem solving, listening, dependability, teaching, leadership, and adaptability needed to serve students required

Position Summary

The purpose of a Professional Tutor for the Tutoring and Learning Center is to provide tutoring and skill-building services for students individually, in small-group sessions, and/or in the academic labs in different subject areas. Professional Tutors are also required to participate in department training and other professional development opportunities to maintain a knowledge of their subject area(s) and current teaching methods.
While the Tutoring and Learning Center supports a variety of subjects, this search is specifically for any of the following content areas: Physics; however, it is not limited to these areas.
This position pays $17.98 per hour and has a maximum of 28 hours of work per week.
