Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a Teacher Assistant to support instructional activities on the Far South Side. Under a licensed teacher's direction, you will assist in instruction and help students with assignments and classroom tasks.

You will also support teachers by preparing materials, operating audiovisual equipment, greeting visitors, and helping with attendance and communications with families. CPS provides comprehensive benefits and a collaborative work environment.

Qualifications

• Must possess valid TASN (NCLB) paraprofessional license from ISBE.
• 60 semester hours of college credit or paraprofessional exam completion.
• Strong English grammar and spelling; basic math skills.
• Ability to work with school-aged children and communicate with the public.
• Experience with classroom technology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instruction and supervise students during lunch, recess, and other activities.
• Help teachers prepare bulletin boards and display student work in classrooms.
• Operate basic office equipment and audiovisual devices.
• Collect and grade homework and assessments under supervision.
• Assist in student attendance tracking and parent contact."
• Assist in the supervision of school procedures related to transportation passes.
