Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking an Education Support Professional/Paraeducator to work on campus as a .75 FTE position, providing academic and behavioral support to students with a focus on holistic development.

The role requires completion of the General Paraeducator Certificate and related training within set timelines, along with First Aid/CPR certifications and a valid WA driver’s license. Comprehensive benefits are offered by the district.

Qualifications

• Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent; complete paraeducator requirements as outlined by PESB.
• Possess or be willing to obtain the Paraeducator Certificate and related professional development within timelines.
• Credentials include First Aid and CPR certifications.
• Valid Washington driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic and behavioral support to students in general education and the whole child.
• Implement varied activities to support language, literacy, math, and social development.
• Assist families with onboarding and connect them to appropriate services.
• Monitor and record student progress and respond to individual needs.
• Support meals preparation and supervision during meals where applicable.
• Prepare daily routines for growth in healthy habits and autonomy.
• Conduct home visits or collaborate with administrators to promote home learning.
• Assist families in accessing community resources and support services.
• Establish family partnership goals and promote parent involvement and problem solving.
