Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking a Paraeducator to support certificated teachers and students with a broad range of disabilities. The role includes instructional support, personal care tasks, and data recording in a collaborative school setting.

Positions require completion of the General Paraeducator Certificate, 28 hours of district-provided training, and the ability to assist students with daily living activities while maintaining safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Completion of the General Paraeducator Certificate as required by the state.
• 28 hours of training on the Fundamental Course of Study within district timelines.
• Ability to assist instruction and care for students with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students individually or in small groups as directed by the teacher.
• Assist with activities of daily living and classroom routines for students with disabilities.
• Supervise students during recess, lunch, and transitions; support bus loading/unloading as needed.
• Record student progress and maintain communication with teachers and administrators.
• Assist in adapting materials and supporting classroom management and behavior guidance.
