Job summary

Qualifications

• Formal academic courses/training in child development with applications to special education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students throughout the school day in classrooms, on buses, and at worksites.
• Assist students with social behavior, self-help skills, toileting, feeding, and grooming as assigned.
• Support instruction by reinforcing lessons in one-on-one or small groups and implement plans.
• Observe and manage student behavior in classrooms, lunch areas, and play spaces.
• Collect data on student performance and behaviors as directed by supervising staff.
• Assist students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs using approved strategies.
• Follow AACPS policies while assisting students and staff in school or off-site activities.
• Participate in professional development sessions and trainings provided by the Board of Education.
• Perform other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.
