Job summary

The Colorado Judicial Department invites applications for an Education Specialist to design and deliver training for court and probation staff. You will coordinate curriculum, facilitate training sessions, and help assess program effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus three years of training or comparable work experience.
  • Experience teaching and facilitating programing related to mentoring, coaching, leadership development, and skill building.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with court and probation managers, supervisors, and employees in designing and developing training curriculum and course material.
  • Chair committees responsible for developing training courses.
  • Assist in planning and organizing retreats and cooperative training events, including securing training location, lodging, materials, and trainers.
  • Collect training evaluations, compile results, provide reports on training effectiveness, identify trends, and make recommendations.
  • Provide training, presentations, and facilitate discussions in a learning format independently or as a co‑trainer/facilitator.
  • Communicate effectively with probation and court staff, other governmental agencies, private contractors, and the public.
  • Create reports, presentations, spreadsheets, and other materials in a timely manner.
  • Remain current with training concepts, trends, and technology.
  • Attend meetings and training as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Mission Statement

Additional Responsibilities
  • No formal supervisory responsibilities; responsible only for own work product.
  • Provide technical assistance and general support to outside facilitators.
  • Assist with AV equipment setup and accessibility considerations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching and facilitating programing related to mentoring, coaching, leadership development, and skill building.
  • Committee work experience.
  • Technical knowledge of AV equipment and event setup.
  • Knowledge of accessibility requirements.
  • Experience serving Judicial Officers and leadership across the 23 Judicial Districts.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from a four‑year college or university and three years of training or comparable work experience.
Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to talk or hear; frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms, perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers; occasionally required to stand and walk; may lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities: close vision, ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The position is subject to frequent interruptions and may require handling multiple calls and inquiries at once. The employee must work cooperatively in a team environment or independently. Noise level is usually moderate.
