Job summary

Kitchell is seeking an experienced Project Manager II to serve as an owner’s representative on Division of State Architect (DSA) education projects in California, based in Modesto. The role requires leading PM/CM activities for complex public sector campuses in a hands-on, on-site capacity.

The position emphasizes risk management, adherence to contracts, and coordination with designers, contractors, and engineers. A CCM/DBIA/LEED path is preferred, with CA licensure and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
• 8+ years in vertical construction, with 3+ years as a Project/Construction Manager.
• Construction experience in the California public education market sector under DSA regulatory oversight.

Responsibilities

• Provide PM/CM Consultant Services for the owner in the California education market sector.
• Ensure operations align with company PM procedures and policies.
• Ensure delivery and adherence to contractual requirements and owner contracts.
• Manage procurement phase and development of RFQs and RFPs.
• Oversee contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications for project requirements.
• Coordinate and monitor activities of contractors, engineers, architects, and related entities.
• Manage project controls, cost, schedule, and performance per client requirements.
• Identify and manage project risk and advise regional executives on mitigation actions.
• Participate in internal teams focused on continuous improvement.
• Enforce workplace health and safety policies and fair treatment of staff.
