Job summary

The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium in Toledo, OH is seeking a full-time Interpretive Program Coordinator to lead Nature’s Neighborhood, Museum, and tour-based education experiences. This role coordinates programming, develops lesson plans, handles animals for education programming, and supports marketing and program budgets.

Under limited supervision, you will hire, train, and schedule staff, teach diverse audiences, and contribute to daily operations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in education, biology or a related field and at least one year of public programming in an informal setting.
Must be 21+ years of age.
Certified Interpretive Guide training preferred.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by programming schedule.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable.

Responsibilities

Plans and coordinates all programming elements for Nature’s Neighborhood, ProMedica Museum of Natural History, Behind the Scenes Tours, and exhibit interpretation.
Teach educational programs to diverse audiences, including camps, school programs, homeschool programs, scouts, and family programs.
Hire, supervise, train, and schedule interpretive and tour staff and volunteers; supervise Tour and Interpretive Specialist.
Develop programs, write lesson plans, handle animals for education programming, and maintain reports and records.
