Job summary

The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium is seeking a full-time Interpretive Program Coordinator to lead and grow educational programming for Nature’s Neighborhood, the Museum, and tour experiences. This role includes hiring, training, scheduling staff, and developing lesson plans while assisting with daily operations of the Education Facilities.

The position requires 21+ years of age, a relevant degree, and 1+ year of public programming experience in an informal setting.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in education, biology or a related field plus at least 1 year of public programming experience in an informal setting.
Must be 21+ years of age.
Completion of Certified Interpretive Guide training is preferred.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by programming schedule.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable by fleet insurance.

Responsibilities

Plan and execute programming for Nature’s Neighborhood, ProMedica Museum of Natural History, Behind the Scenes Tours, and exhibit interpretation.
Train and supervise interpretive and tour staff and volunteers.
Teach educational programs to diverse age groups including camps and school programs.
Develop lesson plans and assist with budget reports and grant proposals.
Assist with marketing and department activities and prepare various reports.
