Job summary

The GEO Group is hiring an Employment and Education Coordinator to guide educational and employment advancement for program participants. You will use labs and classes to provide instruction, resources, and referrals and serve as the primary contact for the Education and Employment program at the Day Reporting Center.

You will apply What Works principles, conduct assessments, develop plans, and collaborate with employers and community agencies to help clients achieve education or job goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science from an accredited institution and 1 year as a Job Developer or similar role; OR
• High school diploma and 2 years of experience as a Job Developer or similar role.

Responsibilities

• Conduct individual education assessments and create treatment plans for each participant.
• Assist in formulating plans to achieve occupational goals and refer to employers, training or community agencies.
• Counsel probationers to analyze and evaluate their skills for employability.
• Provide information on job opportunities, training and rehabilitation resources.
• Offer employment services including résumé writing, mock interviews, time management, and workplace etiquette.
• Help probationers assemble documents needed to work in California.
• Mentor probationers in disclosure of past convictions or parole status to employers.
• Assist with locating employment, college enrollment or vocational training.
• Work with probationers after placement to address issues that arise.
• Obtain verification of employment and establish relationships with local employers.
• Assist other staff to meet program needs and perform other duties as assigned.
