Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools seeks a Chief Human Resources Officer to lead and oversee all HR programs, staffing, benefits, and HRIS across the district. You will be part of the Superintendent’s Executive Cabinet and direct compensation, licensure, and reporting while ensuring equitable, compliant operations.

Lead a high-profile team, align HR services with district goals, and manage budgets, data, and staffing strategies to support student and staff success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, HR Management, or related field.
• Doctorate in education or related area preferred.
• NC Certification (Principal or Superintendent) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and supervise district HR programs and staff.
• Ensure compliance with laws, policies, and procedures.
• Oversee budgeting, data reporting, and HRIS operations.
• Recruit, hire, and retain qualified staff district-wide.
• Coordinate professional development and licensure for employees.
• Provide advisory support to the Superintendent and Board of Education.
