Summary Description

Perform specialized work by assisting school teachers in instructing and supervising students to ensure a well-organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment. Responsibilities include preparing instructional materials, setting up classrooms, supervising children, reinforcing lessons, and providing additional assistance as needed. May also support special needs students or coordinate special projects. Work is under direct supervision according to set procedures.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's Degree, or two years of college (minimum 48 semester hours), or a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment Test, and at least one year of experience working with children in an educational setting. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required or must be obtainable. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

Degree Equivalency Formula

• Bachelor’s Degree = 4 years plus required experience
• Master’s Degree = 6 years plus required experience
